A COMPLETE Travel Guide on Planning a Trip to Kashmir

How may a vacation to Kashmir be planned? There are numerous aspects of this that you will need to think about, including how to get there, where to stay, what to see and do, what to bring, how much it will cost, preparing your itinerary, etc. If you really want to be thorough, you can’t address all of these questions in one post.

I’ve been to Kashmir a few times, and I’ve published a number of thorough articles that can be useful to anyone organising a trip. Since this material is dispersed across numerous posts, finding the specifics you require can take some effort.

I’ve listed these articles in the post below for your convenience and simplicity of navigation. You can find the answers to all of your questions regarding visiting Kashmir by clicking on the links and reading the articles. If you have any questions, you may message me on Instagram and I’ll be happy to answer them.

Optimal Season to Visit Kashmir
What time of year is ideal for visiting Kashmir? Since it will depend on the type of trip you were anticipating, there isn’t a clear answer to this issue.

The best months to view snow are January and February. The greatest time to observe sights of lush greenery is in September. I’d suggest travelling in April or September for a honeymoon.

Make plans for April if you wanted to visit flowers and the Tulip Garden. The best months to visit if you wanted to see apple orchards are August and September.

A trip after the rainy season will be ideal for photography. August and November are suitable travel months for those on a tight budget.

But this is only a quick summary. Please see When is the Best Time to Visit Kashmir for a more thorough analysis of this information per month.

Mobile Data Connectivity and Networks
Although Airtel has a stronger network in terms of quality, BSNL has the largest network in Kashmir. Jio functions reasonably well, but Vodafone and Idea’s offerings aren’t all that terrific.

The most crucial fact you need to be aware of is that only postpaid connections function in the valley. If it was a prepaid connection, your phone will be dead as soon as you reach Kashmir, regardless of the network you were on.

However, if it was a postpaid phone, you would have decent data connectivity and reception in tourist hotspots like Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Gulmarg, and Srinagar. Depending on the service provider, your phone might or might not operate if you took a tiny diversion.

You might look at another essay I wrote about Mobile Network and Data Connectivity in Kashmir where I go into great length about this subject. In this post, I’ve included a breakdown of network reception by region.

Kashmir Travel Price
How much would a vacation to Kashmir cost? This will rely on a variety of elements, including the number of passengers, the length of the journey, the form of transportation, individual preferences, etc. Having said that, it is still possible to estimate the average cost per person.

Look at this article: How to Calculate the Total Cost of a Trip to Kashmir. I am unable to tell you the precise cost of the trip to Kashmir, but I can offer you a general concept of how to calculate your personal budget for the trip. I covered all of that information in my essay.

You may reasonably estimate how much you will spend in the valley using the numbers below. These are some of the minimum costs that you may expect to pay for things like lodging, taxis, meals, shopping, etc.

Packing for a trip to Kashmir: Clothes
The next crucial query will concern your packing. The clothing you’ll need for your trip to Kashmir will depend on the time of year and the month you’ll be there. It will also depend on the locations you plan to visit and how you plan to get there.

For more details on this topic, I suggest reading Clothes for Kashmir Trip – Things to Pack for Kashmir Trip. I went into great length in my piece regarding what attire you should bring to Kashmir depending on the season.

Kashmir Tourist Attractions
Let’s now examine Kashmir’s top tourist attractions, which you just cannot afford to miss. These are the places that will end up being the pinnacle of your journey.

Srinagar
Since you must travel there first, I’m starting the list with Srinagar. Your starting point for exploring Kashmir’s stunning valleys will be Srinagar.

But does it stop there? No, is the response. It is a destination in and of itself, one of both natural and man-made beauty, rather than merely a base from which to explore Kashmir.

Srinagar is the centre of Kashmir, which Shah Jahan once referred to as the paradise on earth. It is a picture-perfect town that appears to have come right out of a painting with its calm blue lakes and exquisite gardens surrounded by an Arc of Majestic Himalayas.

There is simply so much to see and do here. This, in my opinion, is the key factor behind Srinagar’s continued popularity as one of the top tourist destinations in our nation despite all the instability and tensions.
